To those living on this side of the pond, it will probably come as no surprise to learn that the latest Nielsen study shows US homes have more television options than ever before.
According to a new study from the media metrics maven, the average US home has access to a record 104.2 channels, an increase of almost 8% since 2005. Of course, households are also tuning into more channels than in previous years, and deficit attention disorder may be running rampant; in 2006, the average household accessed 15.7 available channels for only 10 minutes per week.
The percentage of homes that receive more than 100 channels rose from 42% in 2005 to 47% in 2006. Nielsen also found that 58% of all homes have 15 or more channel options, while 36% entertain 20 or more.
