Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow will stop R2-D2

Some US residents more than likely did a double take as they strolled by their neighbourhood mail box on Friday morning. While they don't make his characteristic bleeps and chirps, hundreds of US Postal Service collection boxes have been transformed into R2-D2, yes that R2-D2 from Star Wars.

Some US residents more than likely did a double take as they strolled by their neighbourhood mail box on Friday morning.

While they don’t make his characteristic bleeps and chirps, hundreds of US Postal Service collection boxes have been transformed into R2-D2, yes that R2-D2 from Star Wars. Fear not, the special boxes are not the forbearers of a robot invasion, but are actually meant to serve as teasers for an upcoming Star Wars 30th anniversary stamp that commemorates the first film of the epic space series.

The special boxes have been beamed down into high traffic areas across the US, and promo site www.uspsjedimaster.com is running a movie clip starring iconic characters Darth Vader, R2-D2 and C3PO under the ominous tagline: ‘On March 28 two powerful forces will unite.’
