Those Scurvy Rascals is heading to North American airwaves this spring. Nickelodeon and Nicktoons Network have acquired global on-air, online, digital and mobile rights to the 26 x 3.5-minute CGI shorts from distributor Entara.

The dialogue-free series was originally developed and produced by London, England-based prodco blue-zoo.

A comedy of errors, the shorts revolve around the adventures of a group of hapless pirates who are strangely obsessed with capturing ‘pants’ (aka underwear in North America) as their spoils.

Rascals has won a bevy of awards, including the 2006 British Animation Award for Best Children’s Series and a Children’s Choice Award.

The show will air on all Nickelodeon and Nicktoon Network outlets, and according to Entara, additional broadcast deals with TV2 in Denmark, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, SF in Switzerland and Teletoon in Canada are currently being hammered out.
