Montreal, Canada-based Toon Boom Animation’s software Harmony will be employed by Mexico City-based Amimex for an inaugural feature-length film project. Scheduled for release on October 31, La Leyenda de la Nahuala is set in 1807 and follows Leo San Jaun’s attempts to find his older brother, who has been kidnapped by evil spirits. Animex’s stated goal is to promote Mexican culture, art and literature through a variety of projects.
Toon Boom’s international client base for its animation software includes Nelvana, Warner Bros., Alphanim and Cosgrove Hall. Recently, the company’s technology has been utilized in the award-winning Triplets of Belleville and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie.
