Danny Go! boogies onto Netflix

Daniel Coleman and his high-energy preschool YouTube series will become the latest online kids creator to pair up with the global streamer.

YouTube-first preschool series Danny Go! is dancing and wiggling its way onto Netflix as the global streamer continues to bolster its catalog with content from online creators.

An initial package of five live-action episodes from the Danny Go! channel will roll out on the streamer on April 6, introducing a new audience to his adventure games and original songs. While Netflix hasn’t confirmed a deal to produce more Danny Go! content yet, the streamer does have a pattern of adding creators’ existing YouTube content to its library before following it up with original new series, as it did with Mark Rober, Salish Matter and Ms. Rachel.

Series creator Daniel Coleman launched his YouTube channel in 2019, alongside his wife Mindy, to help kids burn off stress and energy by performing energetic dance moves and engaging in a variety of games. Since its launch, the channel has amassed more than 4.5 million subscribers and over 5 billion views.

Prior to the Netflix deal, Coleman signed his first master toy agreement last year with Just Play, which quickly adapted elements of the show into a three-SKU toy line just in time for the all-important holiday shopping season. The channel’s videos and songs have also made the jump to Kidoodle.TV, HappyKids and Spotify.

Back before any toy company or prodco had signed a major deal with the YouTuber, Kidscreen predicted last year that Danny Go!’s educational content had more potential in the marketplace, selecting Coleman as one of the top six emerging kids creators primed to break out. There are still a few creators from the list who haven’t yet branched out from YouTube onto streamers and consumer products, including Kids Crew, the Lively Lewis Show and The Anazala Family. Keep your eyes peeled for who comes next.
