WBD sets plans for Superman Day

On April 18, WBD is launching a day dedicated to the iconic DC hero and his extended family with three global pop-up experiences in LA, Milan and Fuzhou, China, as well as a walkthrough attraction on the WB Studios lot. A special short starring Krypto (who’s a big part of this summer’s theatrical release Supergirl) is due to air across WBD platforms, and is part of a broader tie-in with Best Friends Animal Society to encourage puppy adoption. And the girl of steel herself is getting the spotlight in a new “Summer of Supergirl” initiative with comic book shops and bookstores curating a lineup of Supergirl-focused titles. The film is hitting retail soon, with consumer products from partners like Funko and McFarlane Toys.

HUNTR/X enters the Cookie kingdom

KPop Demon Hunters has been tapped for a limited-time crossover activation on the mobile game CookieRun: Kingdom, developed by Devsisters. Until May 6, players will gain access to anthropomorphized cookies based on Rumi, Mira and Zoey, as well as an in-game episode called “HUNTR/X Show in the Cookie World!”, KPDH-themed costumes and even a Derpy mini-game.

Smurfs music is traveling the world

IP owner Peyo Company and Magic Star have entered a new global digital distribution deal,  covering several of the Smurfs’ music albums, which feature Smurfy cover versions of pop hits that first gained popularity in the ’90s. In the forthcoming months, these albums will start rolling out on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon, YouTube, QQ, Kugou and Pandora. The launch will start with English-language tunes followed by tracks in Czech, Hungarian, Icelandic, Polish, Slovak and Spanish.
