Due to a cyberattack at the end of March, Hasbro has delayed releasing its full Q1 results until May. But it did release preliminary results, and these unaudited numbers show revenue in the range of US$970 million to US$985 million, which would amount to gains of roughly 9% to 11% compared with last year.
Hasbro says the cyberattack delayed the compiling, prep and reporting of the results, but did not affect the financial results themselves. The problem has been contained, the company noted in a release, and Hasbro is working on fully restoring its systems and operations. The toyco plans to release the full Q1 results before the market opens on May 20.
The preliminary results don’t offer many specifics on the company’s business, but Hasbro does note that Magic: The Gathering continues to be a strong growth driver. Last year, in its full-year results, the company’s Wizards of the Coast/digital gaming division was the company’s only segment to see growth, but its whopping 59% rise in revenue (to US$1.7 billion, its strongest year ever) lifted the whole company’s full-year revenue back to growth.
Looking ahead, the toyco is already predicting that full-year revenue will be up 3% to 5% from the year before, though Q2 might take a hit due to shipping delays and costs related to investigating the cyberattack, Hasbro says.
