As part of an ongoing effort to build a slate of creator-driven content for kids, MENA kids channel Spacetoon has signed a memorandum of understanding with Arab YouTuber AboFlah to produce an animated series inspired by one of his characters.
Slay-man (10 x six or seven minutes, pictured) will revolve around a kid superhero who protects his virtual city from villains with his superpowers. And AboFlah (real name Hasan Sulaiman) plans to voice the animated character himself in a bid to appeal to his large audience. In production now to deliver in mid-2026, this 2D-animated series is aimed at kids eight and up.
AboFlah is one of the Arab region’s biggest gaming-focused creators, according to Spacetoon. He has more than 47 million subscribers and eight billion views on his YouTube channel, which offers up a mix of gaming and comedy videos.
“His content is family-friendly and aligns perfectly with our content strategy,” says a Spacetoon spokesperson. “He is a role model for many kids and young adults. His audience and influence are very big in MENA, and even outside it.”
This is Spacetoon’s second partnership with a prominent YouTube creator in the last few months. In September, the channel teamed up with celebrity chef Abir El-Saghir to make a 10 x six-minute series in which El-Saghir uses magic to heal people with her recipes. For both brands, Spacetoon is looking to use the shows as a first step towards building a larger market presence around the lead characters, including licensing and merchandise, themed experiences and video games.
Spacetoon and AboFlah’s company 8Flamez signed their MOU at the Bridge Summit Abu Dhabi (December 8 to 10), a new market event designed to connect the MENA media industry with the rest of the world.
