DEALS: Mediawan boards Sinking Ship’s graphic novel adaptation Hilo

Hilo lines up co-producers for a new film treatment

Mediawan Kids & Family and its Netherlands studio Submarine have joined Canada’s Sinking Ship to steer this take on the graphic novel series (pictured) by Judd Winick. Sinking Ship has been shepherding the project, which was initially developed as a TV show. Now, the plan is to turn the books into a CG-animated feature. The Hilo book series about a mysterious boy who crash-lands on Earth has sold more than a million copies globally.

Bluey heads to Télé-Québec 

The preschool series will make its free-to-air French-language debut in Quebec later this week. The acquisition strengthens Télé-Québec’s preschool catalogue, which already includes international toons like PAW Patrol, Barbapapa and Grizzy and the Lemmings.

HBO Max launches across APAC markets

The streamer will be available in 12 small APAC markets starting on March 26. HBO Max is already available in 112 territories worldwide, and now will launch in Bhutan, Fiji, Kiribati, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. The streamer, which carries DC and Cartoon Network programming, will also launch in the UK and Ireland on March 26.

Bhooshan’s Junior signs a co-pro agreement

The Indian studio that recently struck a content deal with JoJo Siwa has secured a deal with Caribbean animation banner Animae Caribe House to co-produce new seasons of its digital-first preschool series Adventures of Louie & Douie. The new episodes will roll out throughout 2026.

Yogurtland hops on a new partnership with Disney

As Pixar’s latest Hoppers nears its theatrical release on March 6, the film is ramping up L&M activity with this new partnership. For the next month, US locations of Yogurtland will offer a special flavor (“No Sugar Added Mabel’s Nutty Adventure”) as well as limited-edition Hoppers stickers. The film follows a teen named Mabel who transfers her consciousness into a beaver and must help save the local habitat.
