Despicable Me’s Minions just keep on building. A multi-year global licensing partnership between Mattel-owned Mega Brands and Universal Partnerships & Licensing will start with Mega Bloks Despicable Me construction sets available this December.

The new playsets give fans a chance to build characters, locations and vehicles inspired by the hit movie sequel Despicable Me 2. To launch the line, seven fans will also take to social media and participate in the #MinionMontage Challenge.

To jumpstart its entry into the fast-growing construction toy category, Mattel acquired Mega Brands earlier this year for US$460 million. Minions, meanwhile, are moving up from comedic sidekicks in the 3D animated Despicable Me movie franchise to starring in their own feature film, slated for release in summer 2015.
