DEALS: Fortnite blasts off with new Star Wars features

Star Wars deepens its Fortnite presence 

Disney is launching three new games (Galactic Siege, Escape Vader and Droid Tycoon) tomorrow on the Epic Games platform—where it recently unveiled a toolkit allowing creators to build their own Star Wars experiences. The iconic sci-fi franchise will also engage fandom on Fortnite with a May 19 watch party of the first 10 minutes of The Mandalorian and Grogu, followed by an in-game Q&A with director Jon Favreau.

Talking Tom is heading down under

Distributor CAKE has sold 52 episodes of Talking Tom Heroes: Suddenly Super to Australia’s ABC Kids, which will start airing next month. Based on the popular mobile gaming IP Talking Tom, Suddenly Super is produced by Outfit7, Epic Story Media and ReDefine Originals. It follows Tom and his pals finding a device that grants them powers.

SuperAwesome signs an advertising pact

The company has come on board as the exclusive direct-sales advertising partner for Tinkercast—which is behind the popular kids podcast Wow in the World. SuperAwesome will lead brand advertising deals for the podcast, which has grown into a franchise (books, toys, live shows) and has recorded 300 million lifetime listens, according to Tinkercast.

Hyundai gets interactive with Teenieping

The Korean motor company is expanding its partnership with Seoul-based SAMG Entertainment, which produces the kids toon Catch! Teenieping. Starting in May, the two companies will stage an experiential kid-friendly exhibition featuring characters from the series and also offer a branded test-drive program (“Catch! Teenieping Drive”) for Hyundai’s electric vehicle NEXO. 

Gabby’s Dollhouse boards the Kona Ice truck  

The DreamWorks Animation franchise is getting limited-edition cups and a dedicated flavor called “Gabby’s Rainbow Kitty Magic” from the brand. Known for serving its signature frozen desserts from colorful trucks, Kona Ice operates more than 1,000 shaved ice trucks in 49 states in the US.
